Dithienylethene‐Based Photochromic Siloles: A Straightforward and Divergent Synthetic Strategy

A straightforward synthetic methodology for the preparation of photochromic siloles based on dithienylethene motif is developed. It relies upon an efficient palladium-catalyzed annulation reaction a 2,3-bis(3-thienyl)-silirene with terminal alkynes in mild conditions. The functional group-tolerant and can be performed high yields variety alkynes. even extended to polymeric polypropargylmethacrylamide (PPMA) substrate affording corresponding polymer different degree unit incorporation by simply adjusting polymer/ silirene stoichiometric ratio.

A novel and efficient palladium-catalysed direct di-heteroarylation of 1,2-dichloroperfluorocyclopentene with a variety of heteroarenes is reported, giving rise to 1,2-di(heteroaryl)ylperfluorocyclopentene photochromic compounds. The reaction proceeds with thiazoles, thiophenes or furan derivatives and tolerates various substituents.
